Good pool float, comfy

Just got a mesh pool float from here for the summer. It's actually really comfy and a decent size. Used it all weekend and it held up well. Packaging was a bit big for just one float but whatever. Overall, pretty happy with it, planning to get another one for my sister.

Consistent quality, fast shipping

I've ordered from Big Joe a few times now, and they're always reliable. This time, I got the XXL Fuf Foam-Filled Chair, and it was exactly what I expected based on my previous purchases. Shipping was quick, got here in about 4 days to Portland. It's nice to know what you're getting every time.

Is there a first-time buyer discount or anything for signing up for emails? Trying to save a few bucks on a dorm chair.

P Paula Kim 1 month ago

Yeah, usually they send you a code for like 10-15% off when you sign up for their newsletter. Check your spam folder after you sign up, sometimes it ends up there.

R Renee 1 month ago

Pretty sure I got a 10% off code when I signed up for emails last year. Worth a shot!

Hey, thinking about grabbing one of their big bean bags for my living room. Do they come already filled or do I gotta buy the filling separately?

W Wendy Q. 2 months ago

Yeah, they usually come pre-filled. Just unbox it and you're good to go. Mine was ready right out of the box.

D David Marsh 2 months ago

Most of them do, but some of the really big ones or special covers might be an exception. Check the product description just to be sure, but generally, yes, pre-filled.

Saw a few different bean bag brands. How does Big Joe compare to something like Yogibo or Chill Sack? Is it worth the price difference?

A Anna N. 2 months ago

Big Joe is usually way more affordable than Yogibo. Quality is good for the price, but Yogibo feels a bit more premium and holds its shape better. Chill Sack is probably closer to Big Joe in price point.

T Tom Foster 2 months ago

I've had both Big Joe and a Chill Sack. Big Joe is definitely more structured, Chill Sack feels more like a giant pillow. Depends on what you're looking for. For casual flopping, Big Joe is solid.

My Big Joe bean bag cover got a bit dirty, what's the best way to clean it without messing it up?

N Nick Walsh 1 month ago

Most of their covers are machine washable, just take the filling out first. Cold water, gentle cycle, then air dry. Mine came out fine.

S Sophie 1 month ago

I just spot clean mine with a damp cloth and mild soap. If it's really bad, definitely follow the instructions on the tag for washing the whole cover, but make sure to remove the inner bag first.

Are the pool floats actually puncture resistant? I've had bad luck with other brands getting holes so easily.

R Ryan Reyes 1 month ago

They seem pretty durable to me! I've had one for two summers now and no issues. It's not like indestructible, but way better than those cheap dollar store ones.

L Lisa Lindqvist 1 month ago

Puncture resistant doesn't mean puncture *proof*, but mine has survived some rough handling from the kids without any leaks. They use pretty thick material.

Can you use a coupon for bean bag refills? My old one is getting a bit flat.

J June 1 month ago

I think I remember seeing special refill discounts during certain sales, or sometimes they have a bundle deal. Not sure if a general first-time customer coupon would work on just refills though.

J James A. 1 month ago

I'd check their 'deals' page or sign up for emails. Sometimes they have specific codes just for refills, but a regular site-wide discount might not apply to just that.

Do Big Joe bean bags last a decent amount of time, or do they flatten out really fast and need constant refilling?

G Gwen 2 months ago

They hold up pretty well for a few years before needing a refill. Mine started getting a little flat after about 3 years of heavy use, but refills are easy enough to get.

P Paula 2 months ago

It depends on how much you use it. For a kid's room, it might compact faster. For an adult occasional use, it'll last longer. The foam chairs usually last longer without needing a refresh than the bean bags, just an FYI.

Anyone know how long shipping usually takes for Big Joe? I'm in Chicago and want to get a new pool float before my party next weekend.

J Jared 2 months ago

From Michigan to Chicago, you're probably looking at 3-5 business days standard. Might be tight for next weekend unless you get expedited shipping, if they offer it.

A Alex F. 1 month ago

I got a chair shipped to Indiana a few months ago and it was like 4 days. Chicago is closer, so you might get lucky, but I wouldn't count on it for a super urgent deadline without checking their shipping options.
